And a bold prediction suggested that Julian Nagelsmann’s team would emerge victorious, but it could be a close call.
This is not according to expert analysts, TV commentators or legends of the game.
Instead, this prediction comes from a psychic orangutan at Dortmund Zoo.
Walter, 35, is no stranger to football predictions, having shared his opinion in World Cup and Euro campaigns as well as German and European club competitions, scooping up team merchandise in buckets.
On Thursday, two buckets were placed in the monkey’s enclosure, one with a German scarf and the other with a Scottish scarf.
Walter is used to this procedure, but this time he gave it a twist for everyone watching.
Zoo spokesman Marcel Stawinoga said: “Walter stopped in front of the buckets, and then he took a look at both of them and was going strictly for the German bucket, so I think it must be a victory for the German team against Scotland.
“But then he went into the Scottish bucket, so it could be that the Scots are very close too.”

Walter joins a list of psychic animals that football fans have seen in previous years, such as an octopus and an elephant.
But the other animals generally chose a food bowl with one team’s flag over another.
Paul the oracle octopus was arguably the most famous creature to rise to fame in 2010.
The sea creature lived in an aquarium in Oberhausen and had an incredible ability to predict the results of Germany’s matches at the 2010 World Cup by correctly calculating the outcome of seven matches.
Walter has long been well-known in Germany and made headlines 10 years ago when he bit the arm of a baby monkey at the zoo.
Zookeepers claimed the orangutan attacked baby Yenko after the youngster reached into the cage because he was jealous of the attention he was receiving from his adoptive mother.
Surgeons managed to save the young monkey, but were unable to reattach his arm.
