OXFORD took aim at Chelsea legend John Terry in their video announcing former Blues Josh McEachran’s contract extension.

Midfielder McEachran, 31, played 22 times for the two-time European champions after coming through the academy.

He has since played for the likes of Brentford, Birmingham and MK Dons, before joining Oxford on a free transfer last summer.

His contract expired at the end of this season, but the newly promoted Championship side have now confirmed a one-year contract extension with a hilarious video on X.

It showed McEachran’s face photographed in a film scene in which a passenger checks in for a flight.

The character simulated as McEachran now receives free entry to the first class lounge.

It then cuts to a clip of former Chelsea defender Terry, 43, saying: “And I’m sitting in economy class, Josh McEachran… all in first class.”

The footage comes from an interview Terry gave in April, when he claimed that former Blues manager Andre Villas-Boas made the more experienced players fly economy while the younger members of the squad flew first class.

And fans on social media loved the Oxford mash-up ad.

One said: “This is excellent .”

Another added: “Unreal announcement video.”

While a third responded: “Ok, this is class.”

Chelsea’s forgotten failure Hakim Ziyech lashes out and throws his boots away after being substituted in World Cup qualifiers

Terry said on Up Front with Up Front with Simon Jordan: “I’m going to tell you a little story. We went to Hong Kong, I think when he was the first coach.

“We get on the plane, we get in and I’m sitting in economy class on a 13-hour flight and we’ve got Josh McEachran, Nathaniel Chalobah and a few other young players in first class.

“And that was part of AVB’s thinking, ‘No, no. No player is bigger than me. Everyone is equal.’

“So I got on the plane and found out that Lamps was flying in first class and I was coming back in first class.

“If you fly first, you come back in business or economy, premium economy, whatever. But basically it wasn’t good enough.

“So I’m on the plane saying, ‘No, no, we’re not going anywhere until these young players come back into the economy and the first-team players who built this club to where it is today come back first.

“And we were on the plane and people were getting on and off, and the AVB came in and said, ‘What’s the problem?’

“I say, ‘Well, we’re not going anywhere until the young players move on.’ And to be fair to the young players, they’re going to say, ‘JT, it’s really uncomfortable for us to come back.’

“And I’m going, ‘No, no, it’s not his decision that he owns it as AVB.’

“That was one of his first things in front of everyone, at the end he rotates so that all the first team players fly first, the younger players return to the economy.

“That’s how it should be, these younger players are striving to get to where we are and he tried to make a statement on day one and failed instantly because I promise you, the plane wasn’t going.

“And it would have happened without me, Frank and Didier.”
