The Debrief on Saturday’s NWSL action

More National Women’s Soccer League action continued on Saturday, with four games scheduled in the United States.

Here’s what happened.

What happened?

Gotham FC kicked off the weekend with a 2-0 away win over Racing Louisville. They are now unbeaten in 10.

Later, ties were a theme, with the Washington Spirit breaking the hearts of the San Diego Wave and sharing the points 1-1.

The Orlando Pride then missed a chance to take the lead after a scoreless draw against North Carolina.

In Saturday’s final game, Jane Campbell saved a penalty to ensure the match between Houston Dash and Angel City FC ended goalless.

Player of the night

We have to give this honor to Croix Bethune after the 96th-minute equalizer in front of a record 19,897 Washington fans. Talk about control skills!

Moment of the night

A neat finish from Ella Stevens was enough to seal all three points for Gotham on the road.

She became the first player to score in three consecutive regular season away games with the goal.

What this means

Looking at the table, the Orlando Pride are in second, while the Washington Spirit are one point behind in third.

Meanwhile, Gotham FC is in fourth place (three points behind), but has a game in hand.

North Carolina Courage is seventh, Racing Louisville is eighth and San Diego Wave is ninth.

Houston Dash then sits one above Angel City FC in 10th.

What comes next

A classic is scheduled for Sunday, with the Seattle Reign (13th) hosting the rival Portland Thorns (fifth).

Later, Bay FC (12th) welcomes the Utah Royals to town (14th).
