DECLAN RICE urged English critics to think before they speak.
Harry Kane reminded players like Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer that they never won anything in a Three Lions shirt at a press conference this afternoon.
And Rice, 25, echoed his captain’s comments in urging experts to support the team.
Asked if he was disappointed by the criticism of England’s Euro 2024 campaign, he told ITV: “No, I’m not disappointed because I’ve been playing football for a long time, I know how they work.
“That’s why I don’t really mind it.
“Look, they have the right to their opinion, they are on TV. They are saying whatever they want.
“I know some of them personally, they are great guys, but like I said, they were also in our shoes.
“Sometimes, just to think about the process, just before they say they’ve been where I am and where our other players have been and they haven’t done well in tournaments.
“So look… I don’t know why we think this is such a negative thing. We’re talking like we’re getting out of the tournament here.
“We are leading the group, we need to remain positive and optimistic.
“We will have some positivity in the games.
“We are going to give the players the best confidence in the world. Your players like your Phil Fodens, your [Bukayo] Sakas, you Jude Bellinghams. Tell them they are the best players in the world.
“Make them read this and think, ‘I’m going to go out there and perform and give absolutely everything.’
“Instead of reading the negative comments, [having it] sitting in their minds and then thinking they can’t play a certain way. That’s how I think about it.
“I’m sure we have enough people too, which is good.”
“They’ve been where I am, where our other players have been, and they haven’t done well in tournaments.”
“We need to stay positive, optimistic!”

Lineker called England’s performance against Denmark “shit” and Kane decided to make his voice heard.
He said: “I would never want to be disrespectful to any player, especially a player who has worn the shirt and knows what it’s like to play for England.
“What maybe former players, former players who are experts now have to realize, it’s very difficult not to hear that now, especially for young players who aren’t used to it or for some players who are new to the environment.
“I always feel they have a responsibility, I know they have to be honest and have their opinion, but they have a responsibility as a former England player who a lot of players looked up to, people care about what they say. and listen to them.
“Everyone has their opinion but the bottom line is we haven’t won anything as a nation in a long, long time and a lot of these players have been part of that and know how difficult it is.
“It’s not about digging anyone out, but it’s just the reality that they know it’s difficult to play in these big tournaments and it’s difficult to play for England.”
