AT&T Stadium will be nowhere near capacity, especially at the 400 level. But fears that it will be alarmingly empty appear to be unfounded.
And this will be a pro-US crowd, for three main reasons:
1. There are far fewer Bolivian-Americans than, say, Colombian-Americans or Peruvian-Americans – fewer than 200,000, according to US government data.
2. Football, in general, is not as central to Bolivian national identity as it is, for example, in Argentina or Uruguay.
3. Regarding number 2, the men’s team has not been that good. Few fans would travel here from Bolivia for the Copa América. And few came from the United States, especially due to exorbitant ticket prices.
All that said… never doubt the ability of Latino football fans to be high.
