It’s June and that means it’s speculation time.

Notts County’s key striker Macaulay Langstaff remains linked with Swansea City and a reunion with former manager Luke Williams.

At this stage it may just be online gossip, but there is no doubt that Williams has made no secret of his admiration for his former player, who scored 70 league goals in his two seasons with the League Two side.

“We are talking about the king of Meadow Lane,” Williams said at his first Swansea press conference.

“I love Macca as a lad. As a footballer, he’s a goal-scoring machine, but I want to make sure he’s there to help them get promoted.”

But when he was asked if he would like to sign the 27-year-old, he replied: “That’s a different question.”

It remains to be seen whether Williams would be able to lure Langstaff to the Swansea.com Stadium, with the player signing a four-year contract after helping the Magpies to victory promotion to League Two in 2023 and, as he himself admits, something would be needed “amazing” leaving Meadow Lane.
