Stoke City have made their third signing of the summer by signing defender Eric Bocat from Belgian First Division club St Truiden for an undisclosed fee on a four-year contract.
The 24-year-old Frenchman, who started his career at Lille, follows the arrival of the Norwich City defender Ben Gibson and goalkeeper for Rotherham United Victor Johansson.
“He is a versatile, athletic and exciting player whose attributes can help him thrive in the Championship and beyond,” said Stoke sporting director Jon Walters.
“Eric’s ability to adapt to different positions on the field will be a huge asset.”
Bocat said: “This is a big change in my life and my career. When I spoke with the sporting director and head coach [Steven Schumacher]They explained that they liked my profile as a left-back.
“I’m offensive, fast and I like to dribble. However, I am primarily a left-back and my defensive attributes are very important. It’s an area of my game that I’ve improved a lot over the last few years in Belgium.”
