England’s glamorous WAGs flew across Germany yesterday to try and lift their teammates’ spirits after the disgraceful 0-0 scoreline against Slovenia put fans to sleep.
Players left the pitch in Cologne with boos ringing in their ears and glasses of drinks being thrown at Gareth Southgate after the team limped into the knockout stages.
After the final whistle, their families gave them reassuring hugs and words of comfort in the stands.
Harry Kane’s wife Katie Goodland, Bukayo Saka’s girlfriend Tolami Benson and Jarrod Bowen’s partner Dani Dyer were in the stands for the match.
And some of them flew 270 kilometers on private jets yesterday to spend a few hours with the team at their five-star hotel.
Conor Gallagher’s girlfriend Aine May Kennedy, 25, and Anthony Gordon’s partner Annie Keating flew into Erfurt airport in a Cessna 525 jet with other family members.
And John Stones’ girlfriend Olivia Naylor, 34, touched down moments later in a Cessna 560 after a 36-minute flight from Cologne.
Olivia, in a white dress, walked down the plane’s stairs holding the couple’s six-month-old son in a stroller.
Aine wore a white vest and held a red leather jacket which he donned as he walked the short distance down the tarmac to a waiting passenger transporter.
Annie was wearing a white tank top and denim shorts.
They traveled 45 kilometers to the team’s base at the 350-acre Weimarer Golf Hotel and Spa in Blankenhain.
Families spent a few hours with the players, who traveled back to base camp after the match on a chartered jet, before flying home to England last night.
One viewer said: “It must be tiring for them traveling so much around Germany, but they obviously want to spend some valuable time together.
“You can tell from the photos you see in the stands after games, when the players talk to their families, how much they appreciate their support.”
Yesterday’s visit was much shorter than the family fun day held after the 1-1 draw with Denmark.
FA staff organized a range of activities, including burger trucks and bouncy castles, while the players’ children spent seven hours having fun at the luxury resort.
But captain Harry Kane, 30, later joked that seven hours with the kids was more than enough.
He said: “It was a fun day, maybe a little too long.”
Families had the opportunity to visit the players after each of the group stage games.
But their remote camp in the former East Germany is hundreds of kilometers from where the Group C games were held, meaning those who made the trip each time traveled a total of 5,200 kilometers, including flights from England .
