ROMANIA’S boss has demanded an apology from “disgraceful” fans who claimed the final group game would be a “solution” – after the result was what everyone expected.
All four teams in Group E, which also included Belgium, Slovakia and Ukraine, had three points in yesterday’s final match.
And fans joked about a “solution” for Euro 2024, as a draw between Romania and Slovakia would have ensured that both would progress to the knockout stages.
Romania and Slovakia ended in a 1-1 draw, ensuring that the former finished in first place, ahead of Belgium.
Meanwhile, the former also advanced and prepared for the round of 16 clash against England on Sunday.
However, despite the outcome being predicted by many, both teams produced a fast-paced encounter and sought victory.
And after seeing his team secure a clash with the Netherlands, Romania coach Edward Iordanescu, 46, revealed how insulted he was by talk of a draw before the game.
He exploded: “There are some people who should apologize to us.
“They should have waited and seen and then judged us. So that was shameful.
“They throw this rubbish at us, not only for the team, but for our fans.
