Uche Ikpeazu will miss the first three months of the season after suffering a domestic accident that required him to undergo knee surgery.

Josh McPake “lost himself a bit” after his early days at Rangers, but Levein feels “there’s obviously talent there, it’s just a question of whether he’s got the determination and motivation to make his career as good as it can be.”

The club are looking to sign more central defenders in the coming weeks following the addition of Jack Sanders to the squad.

He is pleased with what he has seen from pre-season so far and feels that “if you miss pre-season it is always difficult to catch up”.

In preseason games, he “will play one team for an hour on Friday, then a new team for the last half hour and then reverse on Saturday.
