Lingard finally ended his goal drought during Seoul’s second K League 1 win in four days.

The 31-year-old converted the penalty to give his side the lead in the 56th minute, before teammate Ryu Jae-moon secured the second.

This was the former Red Devils star’s tenth appearance for Seoul after he joined the club on a free transfer in February.

Despite Seoul’s 67,000-capacity World Cup Stadium being almost full, the cheering crowd certainly headed the ball after Lingard’s ball found the back of the net.

Fireworks also exploded behind the goal as Lingard celebrated with his teammates.

Before Wednesday’s triumph, Lingard had not scored a competitive league goal since September 2021, when he scored United’s winner at West Ham.

The former England international had an excellent loan spell at the Hammers, scoring nine goals in 16 Premier League games.

He then spent the 2022-23 season at Nottingham Forest.

Lingard scored two goals for Forest – against Tottenham and Blackburn – but both came in the EFL Cup.

And his first goal for Seoul came almost six years after scoring for England in a 6-1 victory over Panama at the 2016 FIFA World Cup.
