PFA to seek talks with Man Utd on management of women’s teams

The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) is expected to seek talks with Manchester United after being informed of growing discontent over the management of the women’s national team.

This is according to Atlético, who claim that anonymous but close sources told them that the PFA – the players’ union – is prepared to intervene in the face of concerns about the environment.

It was revealed earlier this week that United’s women’s team will be moved from their £11 million training center to temporary portable cabins to make way for the men’s team next season. This is due to the £50 million investment in Carrington, which has made the men’s facilities unusable for the next 12 months.

The club said it considered a team relocation but it was ruled out for performance reasons.

The issue of training ground facilities comes at the same time as several key women’s national team players are leaving the club, notably captain Katie Zelem and Spanish star Lucía García. England goalkeeper Mary Earps is also expected to leave for PSG after her contract expires.

This is the second time in three years that the PFA has been made aware of the club’s concerns, after members of the team sought help to improve conditions in 2021.
