ANTHONY GORDON was presented with a pair of stabilizers by a photographer at his Euro 2024 press meet on Thursday.

Gordon fell from an electric bike while at the England camp in Germany, cutting his chin and cutting his hands.

The 23-year-old was caught with serious injuries following a high-speed crash during an England “recovery” session on Wednesday.

Last night, Gordon was a rare positive as a late substitute in the draw with Slovenia, leading to calls for him to start against Slovakia on Sunday.

And now a journalist has cheekily awarded him a pair of bike stabilizers after the accident was reported on Thursday.

Gordon received his playful gift at England’s press conference base, where stars often play darts before answering reporters’ questions.

The Newcastle winger saw the funny side of his embarrassing mistake before recounting the incident to a room full of journalists.

Gordon said: “We did what was supposed to be a recovery bike ride.

“It was a beautiful day yesterday and I was coming down and trying to record a quick video for my family.

“Before I knew it, I was face down on the ground. I have a few cuts and bruises. Nothing painful. It was electric, so it was a lot faster.

“In England the front brake is on the left and the next minute it hadn’t slowed down and I was 10 feet in the air.

“I just kept going and finished the bike ride. When I returned to camp, no one saw me.

“I definitely didn’t push to record, so there are some positives.

“I’m going back, it didn’t bother me. It was a beautiful day, but I ruined it for myself.

“The worst part of it was because I was on the phone and I didn’t know I was falling until I hit the ground.

“The moral of the story is that we spend a lot of time on the phone. Enjoy the moment instead of talking on the phone.

“Gareth Southgate laughed at first. It wasn’t that serious. Just a few scratches.”

It was difficult to fool Gallagher at half-time… but Mainoo showed he was the answer, says Jack Wilshere

KOBBIE MAINOO has always been my preference to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold in England’s midfield, writes Jack Wilshere.

I think he showed why in the second half against Slovenia.

But I still feel like it was tough on Conor Gallagher that he got sent off at half-time.

Firstly because it was probably our best half of the tournament.

And secondly, because it didn’t seem like a Gareth Southgate thing to do.

This will shake Gallagher’s confidence, for sure.

He will have thought this was his chance, but he only gets half of it.

That said, despite the disappointing result, the second half was better and Mainoo proved he is the man – or boy – to play there in the future.

How England qualified against Serbia… while Bellingham shines, but TWO big names get 5s

JUDE BELLINGHAM was England’s head boy as Gareth Southgate’s side started victoriously in Germany.

The Real Madrid star exuded class and opened the scoring in the 13th minute thanks to an excellent header, deflecting Bukayo Saka’s deflected cross.

But despite the bright start, it was a nervous game here in Gelsenkirchen.

Serbia exerted significant pressure in the second half, with a couple of narrow escapes for Southgate’s men.

Harry Kane barely had a shot and Premier League Player of the Year Phil Foden struggled to have any influence on the left of the Three Lions’ front three.

See how SunSport’s Tom Barclay rated England’s stars… with TWO stars receiving just 5.
