IAN WRIGHT believes “something isn’t right” with Gareth Southgate at the moment.

Former England striker Wright sees a change in the Three Lions manager’s behavior at the Euros – particularly when he is in front of the media.

The 60-year-old said in Stick to Football: The Overlap Special, brought to you by Sky Bet: “You can see something about him in his interviews.

“When you look at Gareth before this tournament, you look at him and his demeanor, he was very confident.

“When he talks to people and looks at reporters, there is authority in what he says and he has confidence in what he says.

“Now you hear him say, ‘There’s something that’s not right,’ and he does it just as he’s talking and he looks down and you can see he’s thinking about something else.

“There’s something wrong with him and I really feel for him because I think he took on so much of what he had to do as England manager and changed so many different things culturally and politically.”

Southgate is in charge of his fourth major tournament since taking over in 2016, but many expect him to step down after this summer’s Euros.

England topped the group with an opening victory over Serbia, followed by draws with Denmark and Slovenia.

Slovakia now await the round of 16 on Sunday and Phil Foden is back after heading to the UK for the birth of his third child.
