Ipswich Town have announced the permanent signing of Omari Hutchinson from Chelsea in a club record deal.

The 20-year-old winger was a star during the 2023-24 season, which resulted in the club spending heavily to secure his talents for the next five years.

According to reports, Ipswich Town will pay up to £22 million for Hutchinson, breaking the previous transfer record of £4.5 million for Sampdoria goalkeeper Matteo Sereni in 2001.

The club will be pleased with the youngster’s stay at the Portman Road Stadium, given his 10 goals and six assists which helped them reach the Premier League after a 22-year absence.

“Omari is someone we all enjoyed working with last season and the team, his teammates and fans have seen how he has grown and developed throughout the year, which is a testament to the hard work he has put in.” coach Kieran McKenna.

“The impact he had on the team throughout the season, especially in the latter part, was testament to that and he, like many of his teammates, played a significant role in the club’s success.
