Barcelona midfielder Júlia Bartel has become Chelsea Women’s first signing of the summer.
The 20-year-old joins Sonia Bompastor’s team on a three-year contract, leaving her club for life.
Bartel was part of the Blaugrana team that won the League F and Women’s Champions League titles last season.
“Julia is a top young player, who is technically excellent and has a good pedigree with Barcelona and the Spanish youth international teams,” said general manager Paul Green.
“She has good leadership skills for someone at such a young age and we look forward to watching her develop in the coming years.”
The Blues begin their pre-season preparations with friendlies against Gotham FC and Arsenal in August.
