In a bid to prepare for his next club, the 37-year-old joined
the Shots for the preseason.

Begovic was photographed in the club’s blue kit practicing diving and shot saving in the club’s second training session of the year, ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The 63-cap Bosnia and Herzegovina goalkeeper’s presence at the non-league club is likely due to his relationship with the club’s goalkeeping coach, David Smalley.

He is considered a friend of Begovic and a goalkeeping coach at Begovic’s goalkeeping academy.

Smalley joined Aldershot last summer.

Smalley, who holds a Uefa Grade A licence, has previous spells at Hampton and Richmond Borough, Chelsea Women and Chelsea’s academy.

Begovic played more than 250 Premier League games for clubs including Chelsea, Stoke and Bournemouth.

Probably his best-known spell was at Stoke, where he played 160 games and scored once in sensational fashion.
