The Canadian Men’s National Team may have found its latest attacking star.
Jacob Shaffelburg lit up the America’s Cup field for Jesse Marsch’s men with quick runs and tricky feet.
These qualities helped him open the scoring against Venezuela on Friday as the newcomers hope to qualify for the semi-finals.
The 24-year-old ran into the box, stretched his leg and shot at goal. The goal is the third for Canada – all in qualifiers.

Shaffelburg then ran to the bench and lifted Tajon Buchanan’s shirt after the Inter Milan star broke his leg in training.
