Liverpool goalkeeper Adrián has left the club after rejecting a new contract.
The 37-year-old has been a substitute for first-choice Alisson since 2019, intervening during that year’s Super Cup victory over Chelsea.
But Adrián’s first-team prospects suffered a setback when Caoimhin Kelleher rose to second place in the last three seasons.
Despite being offered a further 12 months by the Reds, the veteran will seek a new challenge elsewhere.
“Adrián leaves Liverpool this summer having made a valuable contribution to the club’s success throughout his five years at Anfield,” a club statement confirmed.
“A popular figure among teammates and staff, Adrián leaves the Reds with the best wishes of everyone at the club.
“Thank you for everything.”
Former club Real Betis are expected to become Adrián’s next destination, having grown up in Seville and first emerging from their ranks.
