Former Everton defender Conor Coady said Jordan Pickford “is mad” but “you can trust him no matter what” to produce a performance.
Coady played with Everton’s number one for club and country and added that he is “a world-class goalkeeper” because of his all-round performance.
Pickford took the high road by denying Switzerland and City of Manchester defender Manuel Akanji, as England scored five perfect penalties in Saturday’s Euro 2024 quarter-final shootout.
“He gets a lot of criticism but he’s just fantastic,” Coady said on the Football Daily at the Euros podcast.
“I love everything about his process because he stands his ground after doing his homework and putting it in the bottle. That’s why he comes up with trump cards and saves penalties.
“It takes research to be a top goalkeeper and penalty saver, and he does it all.
“I was lucky enough to play in front of him and you know you can trust him no matter what, and that’s an important thing for outfield players.
“He can get you out of prison and I love him so much.
“His England career has been majestic and I’m so happy for him.”
