Harrogate Town have signed Maidenhead United defender Zico Asare for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old joined National League side Maidenhead in 2022, having since made 88 appearances for the club in all competitions.

He is Harrogate’s second summer signing after winger Stephen Duke-McKenna.

“Zico is athletic, powerful and hungry for an opportunity in the Football League – he has the profile we look for in a full-back and will increase competition for places,” Harrogate head of player recruitment Lloyd Kerry told club website.

“He’s explosive, he can run away from his man and he competes well, so we’re excited to see what he can do.”

Harrogate did not reveal the length of Asare’s contract.
