Invasion ‘to surpass Italy 90’

Around 30,000 English fans are organizing a Dortmund Dash to Germany for tomorrow’s semi-final against the Netherlands.

Prices for game tickets, hotels and travel are rising as fans converge on the host city.

Thousands of people began traveling by plane, car and van yesterday, in an invasion that will probably surpass the race for the Italia ’90 semi-final.

Ryanair and BA are expected to fly extra flights and 750-mile round trips by ferry and road are also in the works.

They will be crying out for better luck than in 1990, when thousands of people rushed to Turin – only for England to be knocked out of the World Cup on penalties against the Germans.

Far fewer traveled to England’s 2018 World Cup semi-finals in Russia because of visa and security concerns.

But tickets for Wednesday are going for £25,376 a pair, with advertisers and resale sites cashing in.

If Gareth Southgate’s team wins, England will officially receive just 10,000 tickets for Sunday’s final at the 71,000-capacity Olympiastadion in Berlin.
