We asked for your opinion and your favorite memories of Andrew Considine after the former Aberdeen stalwart announced his retirement.

Here’s what some of you said:

Duncan: A fantastic and honest team player. He gave his all for Aberdeen, carried the family mantle fantastically. An absolute gentleman and a credit to his family, friends, club and country. He deserved so much better from the game and should have gotten his 20 year testimonial. He will certainly be a definitive ambassador and coach for the club in the future. Hero!

Kevin: My best memory of Andy was his goal against Celtic in the last game of the season in 2018 to secure second place in the league.

Alan: Aberdeen’s number four has made seven out of ten appearances most weeks and with that consistency he should have had more Scotland call-ups, but as usual, if he’s not central belt then they’re not interested. A great guy who played for the shirt, but unfortunately was let down by the club and a coach who should have known better. Andy, you are a Dons legend.

Is rich: He was a great servant for Aberdeen and fully deserved his cap for Scotland. I’m sure he could get into coaching or possibly management in time. He has a wealth of experience to share, but dancing may be out of the question. Good luck to him and I hope he stays in the game.

William: Considine was a fantastic servant to Aberdeen. He should have been offered a contract extension in the season he had to leave. A very poor decision by the Aberdeen board.

Luís: Legendary, absolutely legendary. One of the good guys in Scottish football, despite having left Aberdeen, I think most Dons fans will miss him playing and hope to see him as manager soon as his experience would be invaluable to any club that is lucky enough to have him as a coach.

Les: Considine is a true Aberdeen legend, so many appearances and so reliable. There were many doubts when he was moved to left-back, but he answered them all with solid defending and a new-found ability to get forward and deliver crosses, and who can forget his birthday hat-trick against Dundee? Thank you André.

Paul: An absolute legend. Unfortunate circumstances have left him as he is, but have shown him to be a true professional by simply moving forward. He always played to his fullest and really played for the badge. Just a nice guy. All the best for whatever the future holds for Andy.

Joe: Probably his greatest moment was scoring the winning goal at Celtic in 2018. That goal broke Celtic’s long unbeaten run at home and condemned Rangers to third place. Devastated by his retirement, but what a legend this man is and what a career he has had.
