Bellingham, the younger brother of English star Jude, joined the Black Cats from Birmingham last summer.

After signing a long-term contract with the club, he scored seven goals in 47 appearances across all competitions.

His performances attracted interest from the Premier League following Sunderland’s 16th-place finish in the Championship.

However, Bellingham must now remain at the Stadium of Light.

Fabricio Romano reports that the teenager intends to remain at the club for at least another season.

Crystal Palace were among the teams to show interest in Bellingham, having pushed for a deal in recent weeks.

Instead, he decided to trust the club’s ambitious project, the report adds.

Sunderland are aiming to end their eight-year absence from the Premier League this season.
