MAN UTD TRANSFER NEWS LIVE: All the latest offers and rumors from Old Trafford

United and the Spanish side have reached an agreement that will cost a fixed fee of €500,000 (£423,000) plus a number of add-ons that could take the total price tag up to €15m (£13m).

The star signed a contract until 2028, but also made an emotional statement to the fans of his former club.

The Dutch international thanked the club and fans for all their support.

The former Ajax star also stated that Manchester “will always have a special place” in his heart, as it was where his two children were born.

Van de Beek posted on Instagram: “Dear Manchester United family.

“Today is a memorable day, as my adventure at the club comes to an end. I want to thank everyone for their support over the years.

“From the moment we arrived at Manchester United, we felt extremely welcome and we are grateful for that.

“Thank you to everyone at the club for making us feel at home. A special thank you to all the fans who made these years unforgettable.

“In addition to football, the birth of our two children here ensures that Manchester will always have a special place in our hearts.

“Good luck everyone, we will meet again.”

Sir Jim Ratcliffe sets out five strict rules

Van de Beek joined United in 2020 following a £40m deal from Ajax but never lived up to the hype.

The Dutchman also failed to revive his career during two loan spells at Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt.

The attacking midfielder only managed a total of two goals and two assists in 62 matches.
