ENGLAND fans have joined forces to wax lyrical about Kobbie Mainoo’s performance.
The Manchester United midfielder has earned a place in the starting line-up for Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad against the Netherlands after an impressive display against quarter-final opponents Switzerland.
In doing so at just 19 years and 82 days old, Mainoo became the youngest player to play in a major tournament semi-final for the Three Lions.
And while some may have cracked under the pressure, to quote Alan Shearer, the pressure is for the tires, not for Mainoo.
Mainoo had an impressive first half at the BVB Stadion.
He won 100 percent of his tackles and duels, completed 25 passes, made two interceptions and created the most joint chances for England – almost assisting Phil Foden’s attempt, which was deflected on the line.
Fans took to social media to praise the display as England went into half-time 1-1 up, courtesy of Xavi Simons’ goal, which was canceled out by a Harry Kane penalty.
One fan said: “Less than 30 percent of the land is covered by dirt, the other 70 percent is covered by Kobbie Mainoo.”
A second said: “Kobbie Mainoo, I’m standing and applauding.”

A fifth added: “Foden and Mainoo were fantastic!”
A sixth said: “The world seeing what United fans have been saying all season.”
Another said: “Hype was on Palmer to be the game changer for England off the bench but it was Kobbie Mainoo who seized the opportunity and made the most of it.
