Kambwala, 19, broke into the Red Devils’ starting lineup last season and made 10 appearances.

O Daily Mail reported that Manchester United will have a buy-back clause in their deal with Villarreal.

The clause will remain active for the next three years, until 2027.

It is also claimed that the club has a sizeable sell-on clause should Kambwala leave Villarreal.

He signed a contract until 2029 with the eastern Spain national team

The outlet revealed that the LaLiga side paid just £4.7 million for the defender.

This means that the rest of the fee will be made up of add-ons.

Man United confirmed the transfer with a message of thanks to the young man.

The match was away to West Ham but ended in defeat, with Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus sealing victory for the hosts.

He was also involved in the FA Cup quarter-final victory over Liverpool.

Kambwala originally joined the club in October 2020 from French side Sochaux.

Coach Erik ten Hag had already praised the defender as having “high potential”.
