England Female boss Sarina Wiegman he said Gareth Southgate he may be “very proud of himself” for the work he has done with the men’s team.

Southgate announced on Tuesday (July 16) that he would resign as England manager, describing it as “the honor of a lifetime” to play for and manage his country.

The announcement comes after England’s Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain on Sunday night, Southgate’s final match in charge after a reign spanning almost eight years.

Wiegman paid tribute to Southgate after his side secured qualification for Euro 2025 on Tuesday night with a goalless draw against Sweden.
