THOMAS TUCHEL produced a tactical masterclass to take Bayern Munich to the Champions League semi-finals.
Joshua Kimmich scored the only goal of the night to see the Germans win 3-2 on aggregate after a hard-fought home win.
It is the third different club he has taken to the semi-finals – joining an elite group of managers.
Only Carlo Ancelotti, José Mourinho and Pep Guardiola had accomplished the feat before tonight.
Tuchel, 50, finished runner-up with Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 and won the trophy with Chelsea a year later.
He achieved his latest feat despite being on the verge of leaving Bayern at the end of the season due to difficulties competing with Bayer Leverkusen.
Mikel Arteta’s Premier League title contenders were expected to be the better team over both legs but faced a stubborn opponent.
As suggested in a training ground leak, Tuchel decided to play two left-backs – Noussair Mazraoui and Raphael Guerreiro – from the start and drop Thomas Muller, allowing him to bring down Arsenal talisman Bukayo Saka.
