Marseille have signed Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood until 2029 in a deal worth up to €31.6m (£26.6m).
Greenwood, 22, was a product of United’s academy but has not played for the Premier League club since January 2022 and was loaned to Getafe last season.
Serious charges against him, including attempted rape and assault, were discarded in February 2023.
The French club were criticized by the mayor of Marseille after their intention to sign Greenwood was made public.
He made his official debut for United in 2019, as a substitute against Paris St-Germain in the Champions League.
He scored 35 goals in 129 appearances and won his only England cap in 2020.
United, who wished Greenwood well on their website, also included a sizeable sell-on clause in their deal with Marseille.
Greenwood scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 36 appearances as he revived his career at Getafe last season.
Marseille face Sunderland in a pre-season friendly on August 3 at Bradford City’s Valley Parade, with the Stadium of Light unavailable due to renovation work.
Greenwood was born in Bradford and it could be his first game in England since allegations were made against him.
