Northern Ireland midfielder Rachel Furness has returned to Newcastle United after leaving Bristol City.
Furness, Northern Ireland’s top scorer, helped Bristol City win the Women’s Championship title after signing in January 2023.
She also won the championship with Liverpool.
Furness, who also played for Sunderland, Reading and Iceland’s Grindavik, said signing for the club he has supported all his life is a “very proud moment”.
“I have watched from afar over the years and the club’s ambitions on and off the field are something I can’t wait to be a part of,” said the 36-year-old, who previously played for Newcastle between 2006 and 2010.
“I’m excited to meet the team and bring my experience to an already very talented team.”
Manager Becky Langley added: “Rachel has had an excellent career and will undoubtedly bring great experience to the team. She is a winner and I love that about her.
“She is excellent in the air and a good football player. We can’t wait to see her blossom back at her hometown club.”
Newcastle will compete in the 2024-25 Championship after winning the Women’s National League North title.
