A TEENAGER abused England striker Callum Wilson on X/Twitter because he passed the ball to a white teammate instead of scoring himself.
Ibukun Quadri was 19 when he called the player a racially derogatory term for setting up Jack Grealish in the 6-2 World Cup 2022 victory over Iran.
He wrote: “Wilson, you are an idiot for this,” the Westminster JPs were told.
He later told police that the four previous goalscorers were black and that if Newcastle’s Wilson had scored “it would have been a great achievement for black people”.
Andrew Benington, defending, said the “silly” Quadri “didn’t realize the racial connotations” of his comment.
Quadri, 21, from Crayford, south-east London, admitted sending a communication containing an offensive message.
Judge John Zani said: “Mr. Quadri, you are obviously an intelligent young man.
“You made a very serious error in judgment.
“You need to learn the gravity of sending this communication and the effect it can have.
“I have no intention of sending him to prison for this.”
Quadri was released on bail following complaints.
