MANCHESTER UNITED returned to winning ways in pre-season with a 2-0 victory over Rangers.
Erik ten Hag’s men suffered a shock defeat to Rosenborg after a whirlwind visit to Norway this week.

And the Red Devils traveled north across the border to face Scottish giants Rangers at Murrayfield in Edinburgh.
Kick-off was delayed 15 minutes after fans had difficulty getting through the turnstiles.
But in the end it was all worth it for United fans, who saw their team secure victory.
A shout from Amad Diallo and a striker from Joe Hugill was enough to secure victory.
And the match also saw the players gain some much-needed minutes.
Ten Hag sought a mix of youth and experience in the Scottish capital.
There were lots of familiar faces around, with a few new kids on the block too.

Showed careful footwork to ensure United could play quickly from the back.
Didn’t face many Rangers chances and remained calm when the Scots rarely advanced.
AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 6
Linked with a move to Galatasaray, but seemed completely focused on the task at hand.
He remained strong one-on-one and also demonstrated his technical side with quick passes to Diallo.
LENY YORO – 7
A quiet first appearance for United’s new boy, who only completed a £60m move from Lille on Thursday.
He received a round of applause when his first tackle prevented a Gers goal and grew into the game as he progressed.

JONNY EVANS – 6
The old boss brought composure to the defense, but was left relying on Yoro to provide crucial bursts of speed.
Showed astute skills with some smart blocks to win free kicks and relieve pressure.
SAM MURRAY – 6
He had a smooth ride as he ceded control to his more experienced companions.
Attempts to move forward were admirable, but they were not made in the right areas at the right times.

Looked aggressive in attack and made a point of giving Murray some extra support.
He wasn’t afraid to shout at his teammates as he demonstrated decent leadership for a young man.
CASEMIRO – 7
He has taken over as the midfielder’s boss as he looks to rebuild his reputation after a failed season.
I tried to make accurate forward passes and moved much more easily than before.

AMAD DIALLO – 8
Dart races and jinxes gave his former club a headache on loan from the right.
Opened the scoring at 38th minute with a fantastic shot and was a general threat throughout the game.
STONE ASSEMBLY – 5
Played an advanced role but at times seemed confused with his positioning.
Attempts to go deep have often been thwarted and Erik ten Hag will have to seriously consider where it is best to deploy him.

JADON SANCHO – 7
A little fast and loose at first, but managed to influence things in the middle after becoming more comfortable with his role.
He embraced the creative role and was often closer to Wheatley in the box than anyone else.
ETHAN WHEATLEY – 6
Happy to lead United’s senior press after coming through United’s youth system.
He showed his articulate game with good movement and aerial strength, but wasted a clear shot in front of the goal.

Speed demonstrated very well with some well-timed bursts down the flank.

There weren’t many mistakes, as Rangers increased the pressure and made a good block early on.
Ryan Bennett – 6
He refused to shy away from the task at hand, despite the Gers’ new high pressure.
Harry Amass – 6
He was caught several times by the Rangers’ rushing attack, but recovered well.
Jack Fletcher – 7
Son of United legend Darren Fletcher, now first-team coach, did not disgrace his family name with a serene display.

He kept the ball working well and allowed the team to build from deep.
Ethan Ennis – 6
Enjoyable and organized, he helped United maintain control in the final third.

Back from loan at Sevilla and looked eager to put things right with some good passes.

He assumed a broad role on the left, but made a point of going deeper to help build the attacks.
Joe Hugill – 8
He constantly tried to put himself in the right positions and ended up being rewarded with a great shot in the 69th minute.
