Walsall manager Mat Sadler has confirmed that Brandon Comley will miss the start of the season after the midfielder fractured his leg.
The 28-year-old suffered a fibula bone injury in the 3-0 pre-season defeat to Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Sadler confirmed that no surgery was necessary, but that the player will be out for two months.
He told BBC Radio WM: “I’m devastated. Luckily it’s not a load-bearing bone. There’s no need for surgery. He just needs to get it together; we’re talking six to eight weeks until he’s back playing.
“At least some of that is taken over by the preseason games. That’s a positive. Brandon will come back stronger and fitter.”
Walsall begin their League Two campaign at home to Morecambe on August 10.
