EX-MATCH of the Day presenter Adrian Chiles stopped fearing fictional witches and started believing in real ones.

The Beeb star claims wand-wielding women are “just a force for good.”

Chiles, 57, was traumatized as a child by the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz – featuring the sharp-fingered, hook-nosed Wicked Witch of the West.

But the West Brom fan was transformed after walking into a shop selling witches’ wares.

Now he wants to buy some crystals and explore the magical world further – perhaps in hopes of helping the Baggies do some hat tricks.

The Brummie broadcaster was on MOT2 from 2004 to 2010 and then worked for ITV Sport for six years.

He also presented The One Show with Christine Lampard and currently works on BBC Radio 5 live.

The father of two revealed in a column for The Guardian how he became enchanted by witches.

Chiles was “looked twice” when he saw “The Witch of Wicklow. Candles, Crystals, Witch’s Supplies” in the Black Country village of Cradley.

His friends were incredulous when he asked if they knew about it – so he even “wondered if I had dreamed it” and went back to check.

Once there, he explained that he met someone who changed his beliefs.

Chiles wrote: “Behind the counter was the witch herself. I asked him if there were many witches here in the Halesowen area.

“‘You’d be surprised,’ she said. In fact, I wouldn’t be. I don’t think anything will surprise me again.

“I’ve been resolutely anti-witch ever since I was scared to death 50 years ago by that nasty job in The Wizard of Oz.”

“I’m grateful to this witch, the lovely Juliet O’Brien, for correcting me on a few things, mainly that real witches don’t do bad things because they know that such behavior will only come back and haunt them.”

Chiles emphasized: “Witches are a force only for good.

“I’ve been reading about them in a book I bought from Juliet called ‘Basic Witches’ and I’m liking what I’m finding out. I’ll be back soon to get some crystals, seriously.”

In short, it seems like he wouldn’t be scared if he suddenly discovered there was a Wicked Witch of West Brom.

But it might be a bit much to expect him to transfer his allegiance to Crystals Palace!
