Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin was full of praise for winger Vicente Besuijen after the winger made his first appearance for the club in 18 months.
Besuijen started as the Dons en route to a 4-0 League Cup win over East Kilbride on Saturday, having last played in the dismal Scottish Cup against Darvel in January 2023.
Since then, the 23-year-old has played all his football on loan at Dutch teams Excelsior and Emmen.
However, Thelin offered Besuijen a fresh start at Pittodrie.
“I want to give players opportunities to prove themselves,” Thelin said.
“Vinny has had some hamstring problems over the last few weeks but this was his first game and although he was rested he did well.
“He can’t play 90 [minutes] even because he didn’t train fully, but he did well. He protected the ball well, found some combinations and worked hard.”
