Villa will make a £17m profit on a player they signed for a club record £43m from Bayer Leverkusen last summer – after winning a transfer battle with Al-Nassr.

Diaby, 25, scored ten goals and provided nine assists last season in all competitions.

Unai Emery had no intention of moving the 11-cap star, but Villa could not refuse the big offer.

Diaby started last season in the Villa team but was dropped from their best XI due to the excellent form of Leon Bailey.

Villa have re-signed Jaden Philogene, 22, from Hull for £12.6m but will sign another striker.

Atlético de Madrid exiled João Félix to coach Emery’s wish list, as he seeks to reinforce his attack.

The Portuguese striker is now worth £101m after impressing at Benfica.

Atletico Madrid forked out Felix’s huge transfer fee in 2019.

After three and a half seasons in Madrid, Felix found himself on the sidelines of the team after a disagreement with coach Diego Simeone.

As a result, he was loaned to Chelsea for six months and was loaned out again to Barcelona last season.

Everton ace Amadou Onana, 22, completed his medical yesterday.

Villa are paying a fee of £50m for the Belgium international, which will be confirmed by the Midlanders today.

Summer spending amounts to £136.6m across seven signings.

Diaby’s £60m departure will mean the club has made £130.75m in sales.
