Celtic defeated a heavily rotated Manchester City side in a thrilling seven-goal pre-season friendly in the United States.
Top scorers: Bobb 33′, Perrone 46′, Haaland 57; Kühn 13′, 38′, Palma 68′
After inclement weather that nearly delayed the start of the game, play continued on a hot, humid night in Chapel Hill.
Despite some possession from the Premier League champions, it was Celtic who took the lead thanks to a deft counter-attack which was capped by Nicolas-Gerrit Kühn.
However, it didn’t take long for Manchester City to pick up speed again and equalize after half an hour when young Oscar Bobb managed to pass the ball past Kasper Schmeichel.
Equality only lasted a few minutes when Nicolas-Gerrit Kühn was again successful on the right wing, cutting onto his left foot before finding the back of the net to give Celtic the lead once again.
Brendan Rodgers’ side went from good to great when they scored a goal before half-time to extend their lead.
City came back strongly with goals from substitute Máximo Perrone and Erling Haaland, but Celtic responded once again when Luis Palma put his name on the scoreboard with a counter-attacking goal.
