CHELSEA are closing in on a deal to sign Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
The Blues are in advanced talks with the Spanish club, who are hoping for £21m for the 22-year-old.
New Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca wants to sign a new goalkeeper who is adept at getting the ball to his feet.
Despite only signing a new contract with Villarreal last month, Jorgensen – who was born in Sweden but represents Denmark – is interested in a move to Chelsea, with personal terms virtually agreed.
Jorgensen’s arrival could mean the sale of Serbian Djordje Petrovic just a year after arriving at Stamford Bridge.
The goalkeeper did not travel to the United States with Chelsea due to a minor injury, but is expected to join the squad at some point.
Maresca also has Robert Sanchez, who defends being number one, and Kepa Arrizabalaga in his squad, although the latter is hopeful of returning to Real Madrid after a year on loan.
Sanchez has been training with the team in California and is confident he can adapt to Maresca’s style.
He said: “I’m training hard to get this position. I’ll have a few minutes and go from there…
“I always thought that playing with my feet is my game.

“I feel very comfortable with what he wants. He explained what he wants from me and I’ve been doing that in training, and it feels really good at the moment.
“I know what I can bring to the team. I am sure. It’s a totally different style.
“The goalkeeper here needs to ‘look good’ and show a bit of personality.
“I’m the right guy for this. Right now, I’m feeling really confident in training. It feels good.”
