West Ham x Bayer Leverkusen turns into chaos with huge fights on the pitch and on the touchline with COACH sent off

TEMPERS exploded on the touchline when the West Ham manager was sent off during their clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

The newly crowned German champions headed to the London Stadium with a 2-0 aggregate lead going into the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final.

Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen have remained unbeaten in all competitions this season but found themselves behind doors in the East End.

Michail Antonio gave the Hammers a dream start by opening the scoring in the 13th minute.

However, the clash of blood and thunder saw tensions rise just before the half-hour mark.

Suddenly, several members of the West Ham and Leverkusen benches began pushing, shoving and spreading words behind the scenes.

Eventually, the referee gave David Moyes’ manager Billy McKinlay a red card.

A member of the visiting team was also fired.

However, while the referees were sorting out the problem, more appeared on the field.

Top scorer Antonio and opposing star Jonathan Tah suddenly clashed, sparking another melee between the players.

Alonso tried to restore order and replaced Odilon Kossounou.

But the game remained tense throughout the first half.

It came after Moyes attacked Alonso and his team after the first leg, branding them a “disgrace”.

Hammers duo Lucas Paquetá and Emerson were suspended this evening after receiving their third yellow in the competition last week.

The Brazilian midfielder received a yellow card for a rash tackle on Amine Adli.

The Leverkusen players and bench were furious with the tackle, surrounded the referee and pushed Paquetá.

After the game, Moyes was angered by the future Bundesliga champion’s reaction, saying: “He will be a big miss, but I thought their bench was a disgrace.

“He [the referee] was surrounded. I found it shameful and really disappointing.

“They booked him? I think yes. You should let the referee make the decision and not how he reacted to the incident.

“I thought it was a rule all along. We wouldn’t all run away and surround him.

“It was a bad thing on their part and they are a good team and they didn’t need to react like that.”
