Philipp Lahm is widely considered one of the greatest full-backs of all time.

The 40-year-old rose through the ranks at Bayern Munich and, apart from an initial loan spell at Stuttgart, has spent all of his time as a professional footballer with the Bundesliga giants.

Lahm made 517 appearances for the team and helped the club win a number of awards.

He was part of eight title-winning teams and also won the Champions League in 2013.

Lahm also won 12 more winners’ medals, but his finest hour came when playing for his country.

The star was capped 113 times by Germany and captained the German national team to glory at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Lahm has just finished working as UEFA’s tournament director at Euro 2024, but has now made headlines back home.

And all this because he decided to rent his house in Bavaria’s Tegernsee for one night via the Airbnb platform.

Speaking to AD Magazine, Lahm said: “I enjoy hosting and have traveled all over the world as a football player.

“I thought it was a great idea to give other people the opportunity to spend a night at my house.”

It will be available on the evening of October 18 and costs just 21 euros (£18) – a reference to the shirt number he wore for Bayern.

The winners will also receive two tickets to an FC Bayern game, a Bavarian dinner from a professional chef and a shirt signed by Lahm.

There is no doubt that the competition to spend a night at Lahm’s residence will be fierce.

But fans will be able to start submitting their booking requests on Airbnb from August 7th.

And even though it seems unlikely that Lahm himself will prepare your breakfast and meet all your needs, he will be the one to show you around.

Lahm says, “Like a good host, I will personally welcome guests and show them our home.”

In addition to his souvenirs on display, there is also a trophy given to him by the DFB to commemorate the World Cup victory, sitting proudly in his fireplace room.

Lahm said: “My whole life is linked to football, so it’s normal for that to be reflected at home.”

But the property is hugely attractive to everyone – whether you like football or not.

It contains several rooms and the views are incredible.

The property overlooks the lake and nearby mountains and also features an indoor pool.

Lahm added: “It’s a place of retreat where you have nature around you and where it’s more peaceful than in the city.”

And you never know who you might meet while in the resort town of Tegernsee.

His former Bayern and Germany team-mate Manuel Neuer, who is still number 1 at club and country, lives near Lahm.
