Tijuana coach expelled after confrontation with linesman

Tijuana coach Juan Carlos Osorio was given his marching orders just 12 minutes into Los Xolos’ opening game of the 2024 Leagues Cup against LAFC on Friday night.

The clash at BMO Stadium was brought to an abrupt halt when Christian Rivera suffered a serious head injury, and Tijuana was already behind after an early LAFC goal.

After the face-off that resulted in Rivera being injured, Osorio appeared to simply lose his temper with the linesman, coming face to face with the referee before being sent off almost immediately.

Tempers are running high around the League Cup tonight, but this incident was more than the tip of the iceberg.

Los Xolos will now have to react without their head coach and starting midfielder after a disastrous opening half hour.
