Chelsea have agreed deals in principle to sign Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen and Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino.
Jorgensen, 22, is set to undergo a medical after a fee of £20.7m was agreed and is expected to sign a seven-year contract until 2031.
The Denmark U21 international was one of the main targets of new coach Enzo Maresca, who wants an additional goalkeeper capable of using the ball well with his feet.
Jorgensen will compete to be the club’s number one, but his move puts Djordje Petrovic’s future in doubt after the Serbian international replaced the injured Robert Sanchez in the starting line-up last season.
Spaniard Sanchez spoke about facing renewed competition after starting Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Wrexham in their first pre-season match.
“You never know, but at the moment I’m training hard,” said the 26-year-old former Brighton goalkeeper. “Another goalkeeper? I know what I can bring to the team, what I can do and I’m positive about myself.”
Jorgensen is expected to join Chelsea on their tour of the United States, with games against Celtic, Club America, Manchester City and Real Madrid to come.
Meanwhile, defender Anselmino will cost 15.6 million, but will return on loan to Boca Juniors at least until January.
The 19-year-old is seen as an option for the future, in the same vein as other young signings from South America, such as Ecuadorian teenager Kendry Paez and Brazilian Estevão Willian.
Anselmino will also sign a seven-year contract until 2031, but Chelsea will only be able to spread the transfer fee for both players over five years across their accounts, according to Premier League rules.
Both signings will take their summer spend to around £110m, although they have generated around £85m in sales.
