Gabriel Martinelli’s late winner saw Arsenal defeat injury-hit Manchester United as both teams prepared for the new campaign.

The huge crowd in Los Angeles was treated to a healthy mix of first-team stars and rising youngsters from both Premier League giants.
One of those stars, Rasmus Højlund, gifted the Manchester United faithful with a fine opening goal when he beat an Arsenal defender before shooting from an acute angle.
But the Dane’s night came to an end just minutes later when he limped off with an apparent muscle injury.
United’s night got worse when Gabriel Jesus restored parity just minutes before Erik ten Hag’s new player Leny Yoro also went off injured.
Although it looked like the friendly would fail with the shared result, Gabriel Martinelli came off the bench and took matters into his own hands, slicing through United’s defense before scoring the winning goal in the final minutes.
As is customary in some friendlies, the two teams faced each other in a penalty shootout regardless of Arsenal’s victory. Manchester United consoled themselves with a penalty shootout victory after errors from Kai Havertz and Jakub Kiwior.
