FORMER Manchester United, England and Coventry striker Dion Dublin is the inventor of a new musical instrument.
The player, now 54, rose to stardom in the 1990s and 2000s due to his goalscoring exploits.
The former striker was signed from Cambridge United by Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United in 1992 and won a Premier League winner’s medal there.
But it was after joining Coventry City that he really began to find his rhythm, scoring 61 top-flight goals and winning the first of his four England caps.
Dublin enjoyed similar success at Aston Villa following his 1998 transfer and would later play for Millwall, Leicester City and Celtic.
The star spent two years at Norwich City before hanging up his boots in 2008, aged 39.
Since then, he has arguably become an even bigger face than during his playing days after embarking on a career in media.
He continued to be involved in the beautiful game by working as a football commentator for a number of broadcasters including Sky Sports and the BBC.
Dublin also took part in the BBC’s Celebrity Master Chef in 2021, but is now best known for his role as presenter of the hit show Homes Under the Hammer, where he has starred since 2015.
However, Dublin also has another great passion: music.

And the much-loved star even created his own percussion instrument and, after years of perfecting his design, finally revealed The Dubbed for other musicians to buy.
On its official website, its description says: “The Dube is a unique percussion instrument, created by Dion Dublin.
“An elegant cubic percussion instrument that comes in four sizes and can be fully customized in color schemes and tones.
“It’s ideal for musicians, in schools, even DJ sets, the list is endless.
“World-renowned musicians and drummers, including Courtney Pine and Thomas Lang, to name just two, have tested and used Dube and recommended it.”
The purchase price varies from £117 to £320 depending on size and each model also has a different and unique sound.
While counting Deputy on how he came up with the idea, Dublin said: “It’s a bit strange. I didn’t know this before, but I’ve always been a percussionist, playing whatever I can, making rhythms, making music.
“One day I decided to go to a hardware store – I took six pieces of wood, a hammer and nails and built a box.
“It probably seemed pointless at the time, but it got me to where I am today and was well received by drummers and percussionists like One Direction’s Josh Devine and Robbie Williams’ drummer.
“I think percussion has been lying dormant in me for a while, and my musical aspirations have been unleashed now that I have the time.
“I’m passionate about promoting The Dube. As soon as the door is knocked down, The Dube will take off and I won’t stop, I will keep chasing him. I know there’s a market for it.”
