The Brazil international appears open to a move to the Saudi Pro League, but Citizens manager Pep Guardiola has made a sincere plea for him to remain at the Etihad.

Guardiola said: “I wish from the bottom of my heart that Eddie stays with us.

“I would love for him to stay. I can’t imagine our processes being successful in recent seasons without him. He is an important figure in the locker room.”

Ederson, 30, was very flattered by Guardiola’s comments but admitted a decision has not yet been made about his future.

However, the former Benfica star insists he is still happy with the Premier League champions.

Ederson told Brazilian TV: “There is still no definition [on my future].

“Hearing Pep say that was very gratifying, it’s my eighth season with him experiencing many good moments, as well as some bad ones.

“He’s an easy guy to work with, he’s a football genius and everyone knows it.

“So it’s really good to hear from him. I’m happy here, having a good time with my teammates, I’m also taking the opportunity to regain my physical shape.

“I’m very calm, everything that happens is in God’s hands and He knows the right path to follow. Whatever He gives me I will be happy with.”

Will De Bruyne and Ederson leave Manchester City this summer?

SunSport have revealed that City are planning a “take it or leave it” pay rise to stop Ederson joining the Saudi Arabian revolution.

Club bosses are ready to give the Brazilian around £1 million a month if he signs a deal that keeps him at the Etihad for the rest of his peak years.

We also reported that City will sign AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan if Ederson leaves this summer.

If the former Rio Ave star decides to leave Manchester this summer, the Prem champions will demand a minimum fee of £50m from his Saudi suitors.
