The central defender became a free agent in May after leaving Spanish fifth-division club Málaga City, where he was player-coach.

The former England international then looked for his next destination via job advertising site LinkedIn.

Caulker offered his services to a football club as a player-coach, as he did in Spain.

And the search was worth it, as the defender has just been announced by Ankara Keciorengucu, a Turkish second division team.

Caulker confirmed the news by posing in his new outfit on social media.

The club issued the following statement on Twitter: “Ankara Keciorengucu has reached an agreement with Steven Caulker.

“We welcome Steven to our club and wish him every success in our white and purple jersey.”

Caulker last played in the UK for Wigan when they were in the Championship in 2023.

His career began in 2009 when he rose through the ranks at Tottenham.

Caulker later had campaigns with Cardiff and Queens Park Rangers before being loaned out to Liverpool and Southampton.

I was devastated after losing 6-1 to Liverpool… so I woke up drunk on the floor of a hotel and signed for them

He has played just once for England and scored on his international debut, in a 4-2 friendly defeat against Sweden in 2012.

Caulker returns to Türkiye after previous spells with Alanyaspor, Fenerbahçe, Gaziantep and Fatih Karagumruk.
