We asked for your opinion on Southampton’s imminent £7m signing of Villarreal’s Ben Brereton Diaz.
Here are some of their comments:
Alex: I think it’s a great signing as he outperformed Che last season in just 14 games in a tougher league, so I think it’s a good upgrade. For less than £7 million I think it’s a bargain.
Daz: I think if Russell Martin can mold him to his offside style, he would be a good asset to replace Che Adams. We hope that with the signings we’ve already made, they all work out and we have a good chance of returning to the Premier League.
Ross: I’ve liked his looks for a few years now, but I’m a bit lacking in Premier League experience.
David: He must be an improvement over Che Adams, who never worked hard enough to impress me. With Stewart Armstrong hopefully fit and raring to go, competition between him and potentially Brereton Diaz can only be beneficial.
Marty: He played alongside Adam Armstrong at Blackburn and I believe in Harwood-Bellis, so I can see the strong connections. He would give us a new attacking option after losing Adams, who was unsure about his future last season. It’s a bargain and for a Chilean International I’ll be happy to take it! He also had a good Premier League debut!
Gavin: We haven’t had a high target since Graziano Pelle. I think we miss that type of player. Could be a Che Adams update. Happy signing!
