Fans have noticed a hilarious change to Paul Mullin’s profile picture in Wrexham’s squad list after the striker starred in Deadpool & Wolverine.
The Wrexham ace made a surprise masked cameo in the action film as Welshpool – a Welsh version of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool character.
Reynolds and fellow Hollywood actor Rob McElhenney bought Wrexham in 2020 and have since seen their team secure back-to-back promotions to League One.
And because of Reynolds, Mullins appeared in Deadpool, which prompted the football club to update his player profile with his Welshpool costume, noticed by an eagle-eyed fan.
One fan shared a screen recording with the caption “Scrolling through the player list on the Wrexham website until I found..” followed by them stopping at Mulli dressed as Welshpool.
Another amused fan said, “This is class.”
While a third responded with a meme that read: “This is a great joke, it really is!”
Welshpool appears in the film during a scene featuring a multitude of Deadpool variants.
The character’s costume is adorned with prominent Welsh flags on the chest and shoulders.
At one particular moment in the film, the camera deliberately focuses on the character, playfully acknowledging Ryan Reynolds’ recent Welsh connection.
