He appeared to suffer a non-contact ankle injury during the first half and limped off with the help of a physiotherapist.

Erik ten Hag admitted that he and his team were “especially careful” with Yoro in the lead-up to the match, as he had only completed a few training sessions.

Although he remained hopeful that the injury would not be serious at the time, the French defender was seen using crutches.

He was also spotted wearing a protective boot at United’s UCLA training base in California.

The Red Devils are believed to be assessing the extent of the problem.

Yoro joined Man Utd in a £52m move from Lille earlier this month.

Upon arriving at Old Trafford, he said: “Signing for a club of the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an incredible honour.

“From my first conversations with the club, they have set out a clear plan for how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project, and have shown a lot of care for me and my family.
